A WTVY News 4 legend passed away Friday.

Gene Ragan was the founder of the Gene Ragan Farm Show.

His live Saturday evening show and noon farm report on Channel 4 are believed to have been the longest-running TV farm programs on a single station in the United States.

Ragan's broadcast career began in 1953 with "The Ragan Report" on 99.7 WOOF radio.

He also wrote for the Dothan Eagle, was the first advertising manager of the Southeastern Peanut Farmer and was an agriculture consultant to South Trust Bank.

Ragan was 88 years old.

Funeral Arrangements
The funeral will be held on September 23rd. ,2012.
Family and guests will eat lunch at First Baptist Church in Dothan and visitation begins at 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
The burial will be in Blakely, Georgia in the family's burial plot.
