GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) -- Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin says 12 gambling devices have been seized in a raid at a Gadsden VFW Post.

Entrekin said the devices known as "eSweeps" allow a person to put money on an account and keep playing until he or she decides to cash out the account.

Arrested in the raid Sunday was 57-year-old Terri H. Smith of Rainbow City, manager of the VFW post.

She was charged with one count of possession of a gambling device and one count of promoting gambling and has been released on $2,000 bond. Capt. Shane Hartley said each charge is a misdemeanor.

Entrekin said his officers will continue to enforce Alabama's laws against illegal gambling even if the proceeds from the gambling are to go to charity.
