GA Peanut Commission Shares Research Info

TIFTON, Ga. (AP) -- The Georgia Peanut Commission will hold its annual Research Report Day tomorrow.

The event, beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Tifton, provides growers and industry representatives an opportunity to hear the latest reports on research projects funded by commission on behalf of 4,000 Georgia peanut farmers in 2012.

Donald Chase, the Peanut Commission's research committee chairman, says that results of various research projects across Georgia will be shared. The research aims to help farmers reduce costs of production and improve agronomic techniques.

The Georgia Peanut Commission awarded $260,000 to peanut research facilities in the state during 2012 to fund 22 research projects from the University of Georgia and the USDA Agricultural Research Service.
