ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- An Albany man has been sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping and assaulting a man during a drug deal.
Jermaine Harrison was convicted of kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery in the March 2012 incident that left James Wheeler III in coma.
The 26-year-old Harrison and his alleged accomplice paid Wheeler $500 for marijuana they never received.
Authorities have said Harrison was on house arrest at the time and disabled his ankle monitor. He won't be eligible for parole for 30 years. His accomplice is awaiting trial.
