GA Cotton Farmer's Are Concerned About Gov. Shutdown

A Georgia cotton farmer is worried about the shutdown's effects on her business.

Tara Jordan says lawmakers' in-ability to get anything accomplished will start to affect day-to-day decision-making on the farm.

With the Legislature arguing over the budget, the Farm Bill has fallen through the cracks.

The measure expired Monday night.
Jordan said, “I think that the general public doesn't understand that when they see on the news that we have a billion dollar farm bill or a trillion dollar farm bill or however many dollars, that a huge portion of it goes to food stamps and other areas and is not necessarily all farm subsidies even though it is called the farm bill."
Some in both parties have suggested the stalemate might last for weeks.
