GA Boy Charged with Making School Threat

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities say a seventh-grade student at a Hall County school is accused of making a terroristic threat after they say another student heard the 14-year-old make a comment about "shooting up the school."

Gordon Higgins, a spokesman for Hall County Schools, said the student at Chestatee Academy of Inquiry and Talent Development was charged Wednesday.

Hall County sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks says the threatening comment did not involve specific plans, dates, times or people targeted. He said no weapons were found at the school or in the boy's possession.

The Times of Gainesville reports that the boy was booked into the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center as authorities continue to investigate the matter. His identity wasn't released because he is a juvenile.
