Furloughs will start in June for civilian employees with the Department of Defense.
Employees will see 22 furlough days. Originally the Pentagon announced 24 days. The number was reevaluated after Congress passed a new budget resolution freeing up some $10 billion for the DOD.
The department will send out notices in May. The furloughs will take place over seven two-week pay periods until the end of the current fiscal year in September.
The furloughs will save the agency $2.5 billion.
