January 28th has two unofficial national holidays celebrating fun times at the workplace and a quirky musical instrument.

“Fun at Work Day” is celebrated in the United States on January 28th, but April 1st in some other countries. The origin of this holiday is unknown, but it encourages workers to have fun while at work. It recommends you do so within your workplace guidelines and only when appropriate.

“National Kazoo Day” celebrates the quirky musical instrument often known for being a party favor. According to the website on National Kazoo Day, the instrument has been in existence for 163 years as of 2013.

Neither of these holidays is officially recognized by Congress.
