UPDATE: Ft. Rucker Gate Reopened

FORT RUCKER, Ala. – Today at approximately 11:30 a.m. during a random vehicle check at the Enterprise gate inbound to Fort Rucker, a military working dog alerted to something suspicious in a vehicle.

Immediately Fort Rucker officials closed the gate to inbound and outbound traffic. As a precaution the Dothan Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialists were called to assist Fort Rucker’s first responders.

Upon further investigation, the vehicle was thoroughly searched with no findings, and the scene was cleared. Normal gate operations have resumed.

We would like to thank the local communities for their assistance in responding to today’s incident.

Although nothing was found today, this highlights that our security measures work and that we take every incident very seriously. Our biggest concern is the safety of those who live and work on Fort Rucker.

Units from the Dale County Sheriff's Office and Coffee County Sheriff's Office are assisting.
