A new facility on Fort Rucker is giving families a helping hand when it comes to childcare.
On Friday, the post celebrated the grand opening of its new 24-7 Mini Childhood Development Center. The 4,600 square-foot facility is fully equipped with boys and girls bedrooms, play ares and a state of the art kitchen.
Officials say the new center is not only great for children, but it fills in a major need in the community.
“We have some family child care providers on our installation, military spouses that care for children in their home, but they were doing care during the day and at night and you just can’t work 24-hours a day by yourself so this will really fill in that need,” explained Pam Williams, Coordinator for Child, Youth and school Services at Fort Rucker.
There are a few more inspections the building has to pass, but officials expect the facility to officially open in December.
