TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Gwen Graham, the daughter of Florida's former governor and U.S. senator, is running for Congress.
Graham announced Tuesday that she is going to challenge incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland. Southerland represents the 2nd Congressional District that covers Florida's Panhandle.
Graham's father -- Bob Graham-- served two terms as governor and spent nearly 20 years in the U.S. Senate.
Gwen Graham currently lives in Tallahassee and works for the Leon County school district.
Southerland defeated an incumbent Democrat during the tea party inspired wave of the 2010 elections. He won re-election last year despite efforts by Democrats to defeat him.
The 2nd Congressional district stretches from Panama City to just east of Tallahassee.
Southerland won nearly 53 percent of the vote last November.
