A former Geneva k-9 officer has pleaded guilty in the death of one of the department's dogs.

Investigators say Joshua Waller reported sassy missing in April 2011.

They say the dog was actually left in Waller’s patrol car where she died.

Police say Waller covered up sassy's death.

Today ... Waller entered a blind plea ... Leaving his sentence at the discretion of the judge.

He pleaded guilty to second-degree perjury and animal cruelty.

Waller must also pay back Geneva police 74-hundred dollars for the loss of the animal.

Sentencing is set for November.
