MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- A jury in Montgomery has convicted former physician David Nash of capital murder.
The circuit court jury deliberated about two hours Friday before reaching its verdict. Nash was accused of paying cousins Kindall and Jeremy Riley to kill Ralph McNeil in 2011 on behalf of Nash's
then-fiancee, Serena English. She was in a child custody dispute with McNeil. English and Jeremy Riley have pleaded guilty, and English was a key witness in Nash's trial. Kindall Riley's trial ended in a hung jury.
Nash will be sentenced next month. Prosecutors said at the start of the trial, they would not seek a death sentence. That leaves life in prison without parole.
Nash surrendered his medical license in 2005 after a state medical board accused him of giving fake flu shots.
