Flowers Hospital is now the safest hospital in Alabama.
That is according to consumer reporters who gave the hospital an overall safety score of 67 in a new list. The next highest score in Alabama was a 58.
The rating is based on patient outcomes, patient experience and hospital practices.
Hospital staff says the achievement is something that everyone can be proud of.
"You know this place never rests on its laurels. We'll just keep trying to be better and better and better and better to not just be one in Alabama, but one in America. We want to take good care of our patients, that's my ultimate goal, is to take care of my patient," said Mark Byard, Chief of Surgery at Flowers.
Starting this year, Flowers’ departments each have safety huddles daily. It is something hospital officials believe they will continue in order to ensure patient safety.
