Florida Child Abuse Report: Decrease from 2010

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- State officials say 126 children were fatally abused or neglected in Florida in 2011, a decrease from 136 in 2010.
The Department of Health released the new numbers Friday. Deaths have decreased every year since 2008, when there were more than 200 verified child abuse deaths.
According to the new report, drowning and unsafe sleeping conditions remain the highest causes of death, claiming 62 lives.
