Florence Weakens to a Tropical Depression

The sixth named storm of the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane season has already weakened to a Tropical Depression.

Deep in the Atlantic Ocean, Tropical Storm Florence is no more. It is now Tropical Depression Florence, with sustained winds coming in at only 35 miles per hour. To be a full Tropical Storm, sustained winds must be at 39 miles per hour or greater.

Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center out of Miami, Florida expect this storm to continue to weaken over the next couple of days.

It is not expected to pose a threat to any land masses, including the Southeastern United States.
