This week, the Alabama Department of Transportation removed the Highway 331 Florala bypass off its ten year project list.
D-o-t officials say public opposition and limited monies led to it being removed.
Shop owners along fifth avenue were opposed to the bypass.
They felt it would have re-routed traffic away from the downtown district and made it into a ghost town…
