The Dothan/Houston Emergency Management Agency sent out an email stating that the flash flood watch for the area has been extended.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) the flash flood watch remains in effect for southeast Alabama, portions of southwest Georgia and the Florida Panhandle.
On Thursday, July 4 the watch was scheduled to last until Friday, July 5 at 7 a.m. However, due to widespread heavy rain expected this evening, the flash flood watch has been extended until the morning of Saturday, July 6.
The NWS states that the continued rain could bring storm totals amounts to around 20 inches in parts of the Florida Panhandle.
