TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida voters may get a shot once again at saying whether they want to build big new casinos in the state.
Campaign reports filed Friday show that companies affiliated with a major gaming company have donated nearly $600,000 to a fledgling political committee that may ask voters to approve casinos.
It's too late to get on this year's ballot, but the group has time to gather the signatures needed in order to make the 2014 ballot. Voters three times in the past have voted down casino proposals.
Campaign reports show that the New Jobs and Revenues for Florida committee hired the political consulting firm that is run by Gov. Rick Scott's main political adviser.
Casino developers failed the last two years to get state legislators to ok South Florida casinos.
