Fla. Governor Rick Scott Signs In-State Tuition Bill

Florida Governor Rick Scott has signed a controversial education bill into law.

It allows undocumented immigrants to qualify for in-state tuition at state colleges and universities. To qualify, those undocumented immigrants must have attended at least three years of high school in Florida.

The legislation also eliminates automatic annual tuition increases at state institutions and it caps yearly tuition increases at most major state universities at six percent. Right now, the cap is at fifteen percent. The new law goes into effect on July 1st.
