First Slocomb Elementary Pre-K Class Set to Open its Doors to Students

By  |

A group of four year olds in Slocomb are getting ready for back to school just like any other grade would.

School starts in two weeks at Slocomb Elementary.

Thanks to a First Class Pre-k Grant, the school will have a brand new classroom.

The $120,000 in grant money went to hiring a certified teacher, a teacher’s aide and their salaries, as well as everything they need to teach the students.

The grant is for 18 four year olds to get a head-start before kindergarten.
They will reapply for grant at the end of year.

School officials hope they'll be able to extend the grant and expand to another first year classroom to meet needs.
