Federal Prison Guards Not Receiving Paycheck, Inmates Paid

By  |

Federal Prison Guards in Wisconsin are still reporting to work but they are not getting paid. The inmates that work in prison are however getting paid.

More than 300 federal prison guards work at the prison in Oxford. They are considered exempted employees in the shutdown.

That means they have to show up for work, but don’t receive a paycheck. Dave Dauman is President of the Union that represents the guards.

The last time the government shutdown was in 1995. That shutdown lasted 21-days.
