Officials: "Fatal Fire Investigation May Soon be Complete"

Dothan fire officials say they hope to bring the investigation into a fatal fire that left two young children dead and seriously injured three adults to a close sometime Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 11 p.m. Monday night at 205 Ginnalou Drive.

News 4 spoke with someone Friday morning at Trawick Funeral Home in Ozark.

They say funeral arrangements for 1-year-old Ariel and 4-year-old Byron Harvey haven't been made yet and they're expecting that will happen sometime next week when the adults who are still hospitalized are able to do so.

Local Red Cross officials say it's situations like these that make community involvement important.

"When donations are made to the Red Cross, generally our biggest expense here is when were serving families who have had housing fires, that is our largest single disaster throughout the country every year we respond to about 70, 000 of them, we respond to about 200 of them in the five counties that we serve here in southeast Alabama," said Susan Holmes.

Through those donations they make sure the families have a safe place to stay, food and clothing.

To donate to Red Cross you can stop by the local office in Dothan or go online to redcross.org.
Your zip code will make sure the money goes to your area chapter.

The children were not insured and there has been an account set up to help pay for funeral expenses.
You can donate to any Wells Fargo Bank in the name of Roger and Shelley Slater.
