Houston County, AL - Once again leaders from the city of Dothan and Houston County are teaming up with those in the farming industry.
Farm-city events officially kicked off Tuesday morning with a breakfast at the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce.
The month-long partnership gives city leaders a peak into how agriculture plays into their lives.
And farmers get a glimpse of how the city operates.
This year's theme is "grown safely, extra tasty."
Dr. Adair Gilbert, Farm-City Committee Chairman, said “We are really concentrating on making sure that whatever produce goes to your table or goes to the schools that we are able to supply for, all of that is not only going to be grown safely, but it's also going to be good to eat.”
Dothan City Commissioner Taylor Barbaree and Brooks Hayes will be doing the Farm-City swap this year.
There is also an essay and poster contest, farm tour and events at the national peanut festival. This leads up to a banquet in November.
