Family of Man Shot & Killed by Dothan Police want Answers

DOTHAN, AL--The mother of 23-year-old Christopher Thomas says she wants answers.

Catherine Thomas says it's been almost two months since her son was killed and she's still waiting for the Alabama Bureau of Investigation to release a report on what happened.

If you can remember on June 28th,
Investigators say when they tried to pull over Thomas for multiple warrants.
He tried to leave the scene.
That led to a chase.
When Thomas tried to pull into a parking lot, he hit another car on Montgomery Highway.

Investigators say when the officer got out of his car and asked Thomas to stop, Thomas accelerated toward the officer .

That's when the officer shot Thomas. He died at the scene.

Family members say they want to know what really happened.

"My son been dead 58 days today, his birthday was yesterday he was 23 yesterday and no answers, I still don't have any answers," said Thomas' mother Catherine Thomas.

"Give us some answers because we don't believe they're telling the truth and we want to see this officer fired," said Thomas' aunt Tinikki Myhand.

News 4 did speak with District Attorney Doug Valeska on the phone this morning.

He wasn't available for an interview.

But he did say he's waiting for the report from the ABI.

He says once he gets the report, he'll set up a meeting with the family to go over it.

We'll update you with more information once the report is released.
