Family and Pets Safe After Flames Destroy Mobile Home

ARITON -- An Ariton family is squeezing each other a little tighter after a Thursday afternoon fire destroyed their mobile home but did not harm them.

Fortunately, the three family members inside all survived, along with their four puppies.

Family and friends gathered together at the scene for support.

"I'm so happy they're okay. They're a young family and they're just getting started. They've got a beautiful little girl."

Ariton Fire crews said the call came in just before 2:00 p.m. They and Marley Mill Volunteer Fire Department all worked to fight the flames.

Rescuers said they are grateful no lives were lost.

"That's the main thing. You can always replace a house, clothes, there's some stuff you cannot replace but if you can get out and save your life, pets, then that's the main objective of getting out of a house," Ariton Fire and Rescue's Greg Sessoms said.

The fire occurred on County Road 95 in Ariton. The cause is still under investigation.

Friends and family said they have contacted the American Red Cross. They are working with a local church to get clothing and possibly a donation.
