William Augustus Bowles Museum & Historical Foundation awarded a $128,000 Grant from the Gulf Tourism & Seafood Promotional Fund

Ft. Walton Beach, FL. – Mr. Patrick Juneau presented the William A Bowles Museum and Historical Foundation a check today for $128,000 from the Gulf Tourism & Promotional Fund to build a state of the art Mobile Pirate Museum. Board Chairman Dick Roberts, Executive Director Elaine Tucker along with Board member Bruce Marshall and Treasurer Brock Fisher were on hand to receive the ceremonial check at the Amos Theater in Pensacola, Florida. Chairman Roberts stated “this is the initial result of a lot of hard work and dedication by our Board and Museum Membership”

The Mobile Pirate Museum will provide many of the facility goals of the future permanent museum, but in a smaller and more available fashion. A broader audience will be able to experience the Mobile Pirate Museum at multiple venues throughout the Southeast. The mobile nature will allow schools to experience the lore and culture of piracy on the Emerald Coast, and provide added attractions at festivals, fairs, celebrations and other events. The Mobile Pirate Museum will impact large audiences, provide educational opportunities, and promote the local area everywhere it goes.

William Augustus Bowles Museum & Historical Foundation Inc. is a 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to preserving the past and cultivating the future by displaying memorabilia from the 58-plus years of Krewe of Bowlegs history - our communities historically inspired festival. The Foundation was formed in 2007 by a group of civic leaders dedicated to establishment of the Museum as THE premiere Emerald Coast Pirate Heritage Museum in the Southeast, providing an educational and authentic experience based on technological innovation and artistic presentation of historical lore and events that will revive the “child” in all of us.
