Commissioners met Monday to approve a budget amendment.
It increases the budget by $507, 000.
The increase comes from working on several projects that were supposed to be done in upcoming years, but since the building would be empty, officials decided to get the projects done early.
"We hope that it's going to make the experience you have in the admin building much more pleasant, and also for our employees, putting personnel out of the building we believe will help them do what they need to be doing from a confidentiality and other things perspective, " says Mark Culver, Houston County Commission Chairman.
Culver says a private company is thinking about buying the old Mayer building.
He wouldn't name the company but said if they do buy the building, they would reimburse the county for any work done.
