Experts Say Weather Behind Love Bug Decline

OCALA, Fla. (AP) -- Experts say cold weather is the likely reason Floridians are seeing fewer lovebugs this year.

Reports say University of Florida Professor Norman Leppla says, that unusually cold and wet weather this spring made it difficult for larva to survive.

He says the bugs spend most of their lives as larva beneath decaying vegetation and need ideal conditions to thrive.

The bugs travel and pairs and normally inundate the state during the month of May.
