ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- A former Albany State University student has pleaded guilty to hacking the school's computer system to change his grades.
Derrick Davis pleaded guilty in a Dougherty County Superior Court to four counts of computer trespass. The judge sentenced Davis to two years of probation and ordered him to pay a $2,000 fine.
Attorney General Sam Olens said in a news release that Davis was a student and part-time employee in the information technology department at Albany State when he altered his grades in four classes in December 2010.
Olens says instructors noticed the change in Davis' grades and reported the discrepancies to university administrators. Olens says following an investigation, Davis was expelled from the university after he admitted to changing his grades.
