EUFAULA, Ala. (AP) -- Residents of Eufaula this weekend are celebrating a 48-year-old tradition -- the annual tour of the city's historic churches, gardens and homes known as the Eufaula Pilgrimage.

Reports say the event, which began Friday and ends Sunday evening, is known as Alabama's oldest tour of homes.

Anne Schaeffer, the event's chairman, says visitors have come to Eufaula from as far away as Alaska for the pilgrimage. Events associated with the weekend include candlelight tours, live music and arts programs.

Admission to the Eufaula Pilgrimage costs $7 per home tour and $4 per garden. There's also a $60 package tour that includes 11 homes and four gardens.
