Elba Murder Trial Verdict

Late this afternoon, a 12-member coffee county jury decided the fate of a man charged with the murder of his estranged girlfriend nearly two years ago at her Elba mobile home.
In November 2010, 49-year-old Evelyn Carpenter died from a stab wound to her lower extremities. Shortly after the incident, then 44-year-old Freddie Caldwell Jr. was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the victim's death. Today, it took the jury several hours before handing down a "guilty" verdict at the Coffee County Courthouse in Elba. A sentencing date has not been set at this time...
