Would you buy alcohol for a minor? Early County authorities say they are shocked at what a recent shoulder-tap operation revealed.
Deputies found that more than half of the 23 adults approached in the operation agreed to buy alcohol for minors. They recruited a couple of underage college students to ask strangers outside convenience stores to take cash inside and buy beer for them.
"We had the students pick a variety of people," explains Lieutenant Jennifer Hunt. "Young, old, white, black. We were shocked at the number that agreed to do it."
Those who agreed to buy alcohol for minors got off with a warning this time. But officers say in the future, they will face misdemeanor charges.
