Doug Tew is expected to open its doors at the end of this month.
For the last several months, the 60-year old building had been under construction.
The air conditioning systems throughout the building are being replaced, new electrical wires have been added and the bathrooms are now up to Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Dothan City Commissioner John Ferguson says tt is time the building has been updated.
"This a Dothan landmark people my age and older grew up playing all around here in the basketball court this is is a good traditional neighborhood it says a lot about the commission when they are willing to invest in our young people and the people in this community," said Ferguson.
Work is expected to be finished on May 27th.
