ARITON -- Ariton High School freshman Emily Long proudly wore the "freshman attendant" sash during Friday's homecoming game. However, the word "homecoming" meant more to her that night than walking before her family and friends on the football field.
Her father, CW5 Scott Turvey, made it back from his tour in Afghanistan just in time to escort his daughter during the presentation of the homecoming court.
Turvey's daughter Emily Long said she cannot wait to have her father back for some one-on-one bonding time.
"Just being able to talk to him about anything and everything," Long said. "Whenever I have a problem going to him about it and knowing that he'll be there to help me."
