This morning, Houston County officials approved a joint-partnership to purchase gas and diesel fuel with the city.
The measure is expected to save the county $ 6,500, it could save the city even more.
County leaders say it's the first step--in a long financial relationship.
"This is just the first item that we hope to come many more in the future and as important as the savings is the relationship that the city and the county, not just the elected folks but the employees have now, that we can cooperate, share, help each other out, " Chairman of the Houston County Commission, Mark Culver.
The city is expected to approve the joint purchase next Tuesday.
