It's been about a year since Dothan and Houston county entered a joint purchasing agreement.
Both parties decided it would be more cost-effective if they worked together to purchase fuel.
Considering how much fuel school buses use, this year, the county and city have included both the Dothan and Houston county school systems on the agreement.
"We think we are going to save the tax payers a lot of money. We're excited about it, this is just the first step, we think there are a lot of things that will save a lot of money for people that pay taxes in Houston county, " said Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver.
By teaming up with the city last year, the county saved $6,500.
