A Dothan student is headed to the nation's capital this weekend for a big honor.

Savannah Watson, is a junior at Norhview High School. She's been nominated for an honors only event for students who want to become doctors or go into medical research.

Its called, The Congress of Future Medical Leaders. The program is meant to honor, inspire and motivate students.

"I actually want to be a pediatric oncologist. it's a doctor that deals with cancer patients and getting them into recovery. my dad had cancer when he was a kid so that kind of just led me into that field," says Watson.

Savannah was nominated based on her academic achievement, leadership potential and determination. She tells us there's an opportunity for a full medical scholarship through the program.
