A new candidate is adding his name into the field of becoming the next sheriff of Houston County.
Kenneth Robinson held a press conference this afternoon in front of the Houston County Sheriff's Office announcing his candidacy for sheriff. Robinson is currently the senior pastor at the Alabama Avenue Baptist Church. All candidates need 980 signatures to get on the ballot.
"What I plan to do differently is to bridge the gap that has been missing between the law enforcement and the people. I plan to get the people back involved because it's all about the people in a way. Providing safety and security for the citizens of Houston County and hear what the people have to say," said Robinson.
If elected, Robinson would become the first African American sheriff in Houston County history.
