Dothan, AL - Dothan's Eastside Fire Station will get a facelift.

Leaders say this has been a top priority for nearly a decade.

Tuesday, the Dothan City Commission awarded a bid of $695,570 to remodel the aging fire station.

The flat roof is causing the ceiling to leak

It was built back in the early 70s, and hasn't been remodeled since.

"The station is in a great location. It's one that we feel is going to be there for many years to come. We felt the way the station is designed now is acceptable with a few modifications. Therefore, we could save half the cost in building a new station by just remodeling it," said Fire Department Chief Larry Williams.

The remodel includes everything from the floors to the ceiling, including all of the cabinetry.
