Dothan Commission Proclaims Red Ribbon Week

The longest running drug prevention campaign will kick off again next week.

Tuesday, the Dothan City Commission proclaimed next week "Red ribbon week".

A member of the Dothan-Houston County Substance Abuse Youth Council spoke to the crowd Tuesady morning. Nathan Handley said his mom was once a drug addict, and saw firsthand that you can recover.

"People should unite together throughout the community, their family, or something even bigger and show a commitment and pertain to a drug free lifestyle," he said.

Last year more teens died from drug overdose than in car crashes.
This is the first time that has ever happened.
