DOTHAN, AL - It's unanimous. The Dothan City Commission has approved the purchase of land to expand the landfill.
At this morning's commission meeting, they voted to buy 182 acres on Ennis Road at the price of $5,000 an acre.
The expansion is expected to cost about $8 million. This includes land procurement, engineering, construction and other costs.
The current landfill is expected to fill up in less than two years. That's about the same amount of time it will take to construct the expansion.
