Dothan City Clerk Office Reorganization

Dothan, AL - There could be some changes at the Dothan city clerk's office.

The city commission voted to reorganize the offices at their meeting Tuesday.

This would move the two city clerk office employees who are responsible for business licenses to the city's license shop.

That will make them part of planning and development.
“When they have to have their zoning checked and building inspected, also the fire marshal comes up several times a week, so what we're doing is hopefully making the operation more efficient and user friendly,” said City Manager Mike West.

The city clerk will no longer be classified as a department head. The position will instead become a division head.

The City of Dothan personnel board must now approve this move.
