A FLASH FLOOD Watch is in effect for the Dothan coverage area into Monday evening.
So far, 1 to 3.5 inches of rain has fallen in this area since Saturday night.
Another 1 to 3 inches is likely by Monday evening.
If you live near streams that are capable of rising fast after heavy rain, please remain informed about the weather through Monday afternoon.
A TORNADO WATCH is expected for the Dothan coverage area Monday morning (and may be in effect before sunrise), possibly into early afternoon.
STRONG and possibly SEVERE thunderstorms are forecast for the entire WTVY-TV, WRGX-TV coverage area on Monday - especially in the morning to midday time frame.
A squall line with strong / severe thunderstorms bearing high winds and heavy rain is expected to move through Dothan between 9:30 am to around noon cdt.
Areas to the west of Dothan will experience this squall line earlier, and areas to the east will have it move through later.
In addition, Strong / Severe thunderstorms may develop out in front of that squall line, which would mean an earlier arrival of severe weather in your area.
Such thunderstorms would be more likely to develop a possible tornado, so stay informed of changing weather.
Have a plan of safety BEFORE severe weather threatens you...then be PREPARED to carry out your safety plan quickly.
If a tornado warning is issued for your area, seek safe shelter immediately.
Stay tuned to WTVY-TV for the latest on this developing weather situation.
