Doctors: Recess Important to Children's Health

A group of doctors is stressing the importance of recess.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says the daily break is vital to a child's cognitive, physical and social development.

Physicians say recess should never be withheld as a punishment. The study authors also write a lack of play can lead to poor health and lower grades.
