The Houston County Republican Executive Committee called a press conference on Thursday afternoon to discuss the future of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
John Gormley, Chairman of the Committee, has received numerous calls about the open position since Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes announced his resignation from the post on Wednesday evening. The committee is inviting any person interested in the position to submit a resume that outlines their experience. Resumes will be accepted until July 24 and can be submitted by emailing Gormley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To apply for the position, you must be at least 18-years-old and a resident of the county.
Once resumes are collected, the committee will interview potential candidates at the monthly meeting on July 28. The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn on Ross Clark Circle.
According to a press release from Gormley, all persons submitting a resume will be invited to speak at the executive committee meeting.
After all candidates have spoken, a person will be chosen, by secret ballot, to have their name placed on the November ballot.
