Day three of testimony in George Zimmerman’s murder trial started with a victory for the prosecution.
Presiding Judge Nelson ruled the prosecution can play five calls Zimmerman made to police in the months leading up the shooting.
Prosecutors say the calls will prove Zimmerman was frustrated because too many “suspicious” people walked around his neighborhood.
Additionally, the prosecution’s first witness took the stand.
Jayne Surdyka says she heard a fight between people outside her window the night of the shooting. She says she saw two people in the grass, heard calls for help and then gunshots.
Prosecutors played Surdyka’s 9-1-1 call for the jury.
Zimmerman says he shot Martin in self defense claiming the 17-year-old was the aggressor.
