DALEVILLE -- The Daleville Department of Public Safety invited the Dale County community to honor the lives police officers killed in the line of duty during the department's first Peace Officer Memorial Day Service.

Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson addressed the audience and thanked the officers for their constant dedication to duty.

Police Chief Harvey Mathis said it is important to spend time celebrating those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

"They make a lifetime commitment to this here and we were looking that we can at least take one day and recognize them for their services, and the sacrifices they made which is great and many," Chief Mathis said.
