Dale County may be getting out of the trash business.
The commission voted to bid out its garbage pickup.
Nearly a half-million dollars is needed to upgrade the program.
Officials also say they have had trouble filling positions on the four trucks.
"We're looking to be able to reduce some of the liability the county has. We'll do away with several employees that we're covering on workman's comp and that kind of thing. So hopefully streamlining it a little bit to save money," said Chairman Mark Blankenship.
This will only change the garbage pickup. The billing would still be through Dale County.
