Ga County Commissioner Repays Travel Funding

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- A Chatham County commissioner has repaid $110 in taxpayer funding she received for using her personal vehicle to drive to campaign events.

Helen Stone says the mileage reimbursements she received were inappropriate, and she adds that she's not perfect.

The payments were revealed following an open records request filed by the Savannah Morning News.

Stone says it's questionable whether the events she attended were ineligible for mileage reimbursements since she was meeting constituents.

She says she decided to refund the county for those expenses to avoid any possible impropriety.
